Our Philosophy

Travel is more than simply seeing a place. It is an opportunity to engage with the people, systems, and traditions that define it. Travel can be one of the most powerful forms of learning, bringing people together across cultures to exchange ideas and better understand the world we share. At the same time, we believe learning and cultural discovery should be deeply enjoyable, creating moments of curiosity, conversation, and shared laughter along the journey.

As the world is constantly evolving, meaningful journeys must evolve with it. Each CLE Abroad program is thoughtfully crafted for its moment and destination, reflecting the issues, perspectives, and conversations shaping contemporary society. No two journeys are ever the same.

Our journeys balance shared experiences with personal exploration, allowing participants to engage deeply while still discovering each destination in their own way. Participants travel as a delegation with purpose, engaging with the ideas, institutions, and people that shape the societies we visit.

We believe the most meaningful understanding of a place comes from the people who call it home. Through conversations with scholars, professionals, public officials, and other local voices, participants gain insight into the history, institutions, and contemporary issues shaping each destination and come to understand places through the perspectives of those who know them best.

In a small but meaningful way, these shared experiences deepen understanding across cultures and contribute to a more thoughtful and peaceful world.
